Coupon Codes from Frugal Dad
I was talking to mom the other day and I expressed my desire to buy some new home kitchen appliance. Her eyes lit and I guess she’s been wanting to hear that I’m going to shop soon. She knows that I’ve penny pinching since the New Year starts that’s why she’s delighted to know that I want to purchase some stuff for the house. You know I’m not the type of a person that will just go to the mall just for the sake of shopping or spending money because I want to shop for the things that are really needed so it will not be just a waste. In that way, I’ll get my hard earned money’s worth. Talk about being frugal here you know. I’ve learned my lessons from spending too much on unnecessary things before so I’m just being practical on things that I need to buy. Of course, I’m not that so stiff when it comes to shopping though coz I also give myself some time to splurge hehe but that is very rare!.
Anyway, I have this little notebook where I jot down all the things that I want and need. Each item has approximate prize so I can budget. Once purchased, I crossed it out and wait another time for others to be bought.
I’ve been meaning to get a mini- oven, slow cooker, blender and a durable can opener. I was thrilled to find hands free can opener at staples.com for only $9.99 yey! I got some slow cooker recipes given by a friend that’s why I want to get one for the house. I’ve been the daily cook and at times I’m running out of recipes to serve to my family and I’m sure they will love the slow cooker recipes that I’ll try soon.
Since, I also want to get some good deals on these items, I still need to check on their prices and compare to other store or better yet find a coupon to use before purchasing them. Online shopping is one of the ways we can save only if you know how. Some people didn’t know that there are coupons of discount codes that many stores are offering. We can really save using these codes when we shop.
While browsing the net for coupons, I stumbled upon frugaldad.com and I was glued to the site. The site has lots of valuable info about money, career and yey coupons. Frugal Dad was even featured at Mashable, New York Times, Business Week and more. I perused the coupons page and there are heaps of coupons from various stores like Macy’s, Gap, Staples and lots more.
Just in case you’re also looking for coupon, check out Frugal Dad before you purchase.
Healthiest Deep Fryer
Is there such thing as healthiest deep fryer? It’s amazing to know that this deep fryer only used only 1 tablespoon of oil to fry 2 lbs. of food. How does it do that? I learned that there is an internal convections where in the heat reaches up to 338F that circulates inside this machine to cook fries, chicken, spring rolls and more. Amazing isn’t it. It is available for $299 at hammacher.com. I guess I need to have one of this.
New Kitchen Accessories for the New Home
I was more than glad to know that my sister finally moved to their newly constructed house last month. It’s always been my sister and her husband’s dream to have a new house built from scratch. They have envisioned a big and spacious house and loan for their growing family and now it finally came true and I’m also excited for them.
I hope that one day I can go over to visit them overseas and see their grand house. Right now, I know that my sister is pretty busy with the unpacking of the boxes and also decorating the whole house. There are also some areas in the house that need shelves and painting.
Her kitchen and dining area left me in awe when I saw some pictures at her facebook account. It was big and looks very spacious and I bet she can cook and move around the kitchen with so much ease. I know that she brought all her old kitchen stuff but knowing my sister, she’ll buy more kitchen accessories to match the new theme of her house.
How’d I wish I was there so I can accompany her shopping. With the limited time that she has working at home and taking care of the kids, she finds online shopping more convenient and I’m sure she’ll just go online and shop just like what she’s been doing most of the times.
I also heard from my sister that she’s going to learn how to bake for her kids and these kitchen accessories that I found online can help her and good addition to her kitchen utensils.
1. 3-1 cake Caddy

2. Disposable Decorating Bags

3. Vegetable peelers

Kitchen Secrets
There’s something fun shopping for kitchen gadgets and accessories for our homes. Every time I go out shopping at the malls, I always try to pass by home section and see what’s new. There are times that I end up buying a new chopping board, a new set of drinking glasses, a Teflon frying pan or anything that I think I’ll be needing in my kitchen.
There was once instance that I spent almost few hours checking out the display oven and pots and pans while I’m figuring out for myself if I’m going to buy it because it’s on SALE. Yay, the shopping diva in me came out so I bought pots that I’m really using. Don’t tell that I don’t have some in the house but every time I have new set, I’ll store the old one and use the new ones.
Anyway, these days, online stores have been coming up with contemporary kitchen equipment and tools that we as consumers will have the option to buy. Here’s what I found recently at Kitchen Cookware while browsing their site.
I know that the some of the kitchen secrets includes a good set of knives where you don’t even need to sharpen it every time just to cut a piece of meat.
1. James Martin Knives Set
2. Teflon Fry Pan -this is a MUST, I hate cooking when it’s not a non-stick pan.

Hamilton Beach 54615 Wavestation Express Dispensing Blender
Oh how I love smoothies and in fact, I’m looking for a blender for our home and this Hamilton Wavestation Express Dispensing Blender came just right in time when I’m browsing online. It was actually on sale at buy.com right now and it was originally priced at $31.99 but now it’s only $17.99.
Just hate those blenders with not so sharp blades leaving chunks of ice and fruits on the blender despite running in for few minutes already. I hope this blender will do wonders on my shakes and smoothies
My Love for Cakes
I love cakes more than ice cream. Unfortunately, I don’t have any talent over baking but my hat is off to those that have the passion in making mouth-watering desserts and pastries. I’ll just buy cakes at the bake shops and enjoy their creations. Lately, I’ve been carving for cakes so much and always wanting to have cakes in the house. Talk about having a sweet tooth,. Luckily, there are 2 bake shops near our neighborhood where I can just buy cakes anytime.
Just yesterday, I decided to go to the newly opened cake store near our place. The store was appealing even though they have only few cakes on display. The baking supplies and even the big oven were displayed at the store so I know they are the once really baking them. I was amazed to know that the cake maker were guys and did not even have a hint that the guy who is getting my order is one of the owner/baker.
I ordered few slices of brazo de Mercedes, carrot cake, black forrest and blueberry cheesecake for take out. I was in heaven tasting all of them and promised to return back to buy again. Now, I have another option where to buy cakes since I’m already bored with the taste of the cakes at Red Ribbon and Goldilocks.
Kitchen Appliances and Kitchen Utensils
It was a great delight that I was able to save up this year. It’s always been my wish to buy new kitchen appliances before Christmas and fortunately I was able to do that. One weekend, with my mom in tow, we went to a nearby home depot to check on the appliances. After looking and seeing if the prices fit my budget, I was able to buy 1 refrigerator, washing machine and 2 electric fans. Mom was so happy as she didn’t expect that I’ll buy those appliances all at once.
Now, I’m slowly replacing our old appliances and I’m also planning to buy other kitchen equipments for the house by next year. Thankfully, online is also a great source to find great items and if for some reason I have no time to go to the mall then I’ll just go online and shop.
Here are some few kitchen utensils that I found at Kitchen Cookware that I want to buy.
1. Index Plus Chopping Board
This stylish chopping board is also color coded in such a way that we can use it to prevent cross-contamination of different food. I once heard that when we chop raw food like chicken we need to rinse the chopping board before chopping another item. With this chopping board we’ll be guided what kind of food to chop on each board.
2. Cooks Blowtorch
Been looking for this for I can now “brown” sugar toppings on tarts, meringue and more

Adding Kitchen Gadgets in the House
Now that Christmas is just around the corner, I thought of buying new stuff for the house. Actually, I have started to check on the pantry and the kitchen gadgets that we have and slowly organizing and chucking the old utensils that are not needed and don’t have much use. You see, New Year is coming and changing some items in the house can somewhat bring new luck and fresh new start.
For a start, I already removed the old plastic containers that we have as some of them have chips while others have missing lids or they are not color coordinated. I feel they look like a clutter so I bought some replacements that has dark blue lids. I also bought new oven top grill pan, cutting board and measuring cups.
I’m also thinking buying a grater and a knife sharpener. I went online and here’s what I found at Kitchen Cookware: a multi-purpose plastic mandoline and grater that I reckon is perfect for slicing, grating, shredding and chipping veggies and cooked meat. Meanwhile, this knife sharpener can make my sharpening a little bit easy as it has double slot draw and a handle. I hope I can have these in our kitchen as season of cooking, eating and lots of food preparation is drawing near again.

I went to SM Megamall the other day to do some quick shopping. I passed by the kitchen section of SM department store because I wanted to buy an oven top grill. I saw this Meyer Square Grill Pan which is also on sale. The size is 10 in/24cm which is a good size for my cooking needs. I also bought a tong coated with teflon at the tip. I bought it for Php 1,100+ .
Meyer Square Grill Pan Features:
* Triple layer non-stick coating

There are times, I wanted to grill 1 or 2 chicken breast without using our traditional grill with coal so I thought an oven-top grill is perfect for it. I already tried grilling chicken breast , shrimps and onions and it turned out good. I’m looking forward to use these more often.
